The Situation

Each year on May 1st, the OMA celebrates Doctor’s Day—an opportunity to recognize and thank Ontario’s doctors. But every year, the creative challenge is the same: how do you break through the noise with something new, engaging, and easy for the public to participate in?

Human Catalyst

Emojis are the universal language of the digital age. With billions used every day, they’ve become symbols that cross cultures, languages, and generations. By creating custom gratitude emojis, we could give Ontarians a simple, modern way to thank their doctors—an idea as easy to share as a smile.

The Solution

We designed custom gratitude emojis—playful, modern icons created specifically to say thanks to Ontario’s doctors.

  • Emojis made gratitude easy to express with just one tap.

  • They gave people a new, unifying visual symbol to rally around.

  • They turned an act of appreciation into something fun, shareable, and viral.

Paired with the hashtag #DoctorsDay, the emojis gave Ontarians a cultural tool to show support en masse—transforming gratitude into a movement.

The Yield

  • 3.5 million impressions across channels.

  • Thousands of Ontarians used the emojis to say thanks.

  • Gratitude became more than words—it became a cultural symbol of support for Ontario’s doctors.

What started as a simple set of emojis grew into a movement, proving that sometimes the smallest symbols can spark the biggest waves of appreciation.
